Benelux UPC Conference

On 25 November 2025, nearly 70 professionals gathered during the Benelux UPC Conference in Eindhoven. In addition, another 30 patent attorneys, lawyers, and colleagues from industry attended online.
This conference -with Wim Maas as the Conference Chair who guided the day in a very pleasant way- has proven to be a more than worthy successor to the formerly Octrooirechtcongres.

Not only due to its international character, but also thanks to the engaging panel discussion at the start Litigating in the UPC: navigating a changing landscape and the inspiring UPC Judges panel Topical Debates in the UPC which concluded the program, the conference offered several memorable highlights.

The first keynote, delivered by Sebastien Versaevel, The UPC’s Approach to Patent Validity: Are Standards Converging?, provided highly insightful and thought-provoking material for all attendees.

Followed by Veroniqe Pede, who offered the audience a clear and valuable perspective on Is the UPC Delivering on Its Promise of Efficiency and Speed?

As the third speaker, Pieter Callens gave an enthusiastic and compelling presentation on The UPC’s Rules of Procedure: an evaluation after 2,5 years of use!, leaving participants energized and inspired.

And of course, there were plenty networking opportunities!
